WELLSPRING II - Prints on Paper/Canvas

from $40.00
Limited Availability

Wellspring is a working concept around continuous replenishing of resource, ever flowing abundance, and a reimagining of earth as a damp planet that is not besieged by drought.

This painting and the resulting WELLSPRING series are an ongoing dialogue on manufactured water scarcity in the American West, and were originally inspired by Box Canyon, ID – a freshwater spring that gushes 180,000 gallons of water / minute from below the earth’s crust into a lush, roaring canyon that carves stunning geological architecture through Southern Idaho’s farmland. This dialogue touches on the physical concept that everything in a system recycles, and nothing can be created nor destroyed as energy always transmutes form to keep balance in a system. Water is all around us, we are made of it, and yet due to geo-political and eco-political stances, rivers run dry.

In this work I am seeking to explore ideals in water-rights and resource management, as well as a peaceful expression of movement and wholeness.
